Grotesque and rampantly unfunny, "White Chicks" is a shoddily built comedy about two African-American FBI agents trying to thwart the kidnapping of spoiled white heiresses Brittany and Tiffany Wilson (think the Hilton Sisters, only dumber and more venal) by impersonating them during a vacation in the Hamptons. The whole thing, directed and co-written by Keenen Ivory Wayans, is abominable. Clearly, it was sold on a concept that no studio executive had the guts to shoot down when it was pitched. "White Chicks" allows the ebony Shawn and Marlon Wayans (Keenen's brothers) to prance around in elaborate, unconvincing Caucasian female drag to no good end. Under girly padding and what appear to be death masks of the actresses who portray the Wilsons, broad-shouldered Shawn and Marlon sweat and fret in the name of hilarity and get nowhere. They float flatulence jokes, racial jokes, sex and gender jokes that flirt with homophobia and topical jokes, all of them flatter than a Wayans chest minus the prosthetic breasts. And there isn't a single moment when it's plausible that anyone would accept the cross-dressed agents as random homely white chicks, let alone Brittany and Tiffany. With Brittany Daniel and Jaime King as rival party girls, John Heard as their daddy, and Terry Crews as a horny athlete eager to score with a she-male Wilson. | |||
