is where you will find the work of artists following their creative
vision. You'll find writers taking chances, experimenting with the
way they communicate. We hope the site will change and evolve —
perhaps you have a suggestion that could make it more meaningful.

I am inspired each day — sometimes to glory in the beauty of
the world, sometimes to rant at the idiocy. Neumu will certainly reflect
my views and ideas, which themselves change, sometimes from hour to
hour. It's a place where you'll find people who care about the impact
of what they do in the world, people who respect each other, who don't
shake your hand and then stab you in the back. You'll find artists
on a journey to, well, enlightenment. Understanding. Peace.
Lofty ideas perhaps, but based in the here and now. I know that a
song or a book or a painting can change a person's life. I hope that
a review of an amazing album will inspire you to check it out, and
that the music in turn will in some way change your world. Or that
a piece of art will make you smile or reconsider a long-held assumption,
or allow you to see the world in a different way.
As Editor in Chief, guardian of the words you'll find here, I look
to the contributing writers, and to myself, to bring to your attention
music, books, films, ideas and anything else we think is worth reflecting
on. Things that have deepened our understanding or helped one of us
get through the day, or made us step back in awe.
As a wise man once said, or, rather, sang: "Believe in the magic that
can set you free." I first heard those words on the radio as a young
boy in 1964. The song was "Do You Believe in Magic?" by the Lovin'
Spoonful. I believed then, and I believe now. And as Mark Eitzel sings
on a new song, "Proclaim Your Joy": "It is important throughout your
life to proclaim your joy."
