By all accounts, "Eurotrip" an overseas variation on the gross yet funny teen-sploitation comedy "Road Trip" should have been a waste of time. Leave your presumptions, hauteur and part of your brain at the door, and "Road Trip" is a fairly bright take on the genre, with the expected cartoon-level comedy, some ingratiating characters and novel giggle-triggers. What can you say about a movie that finds humor in two 18-year-old boys leaving a trail of destruction as they scramble through the Vatican in search of a hot German babe? And how about a series of jokes initiated by the consumption of the banned-in-America psychoactive liquor, absinthe? The "Eurotrip," from London to Paris and beyond, is the result of an online gaffe by recent high-school grad Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz), who rebuffs the romantic overtures of e-mail pen-pal Mieke (Jessica Boehrs) when he believes she's a guy. Learning Mieke is a beautiful girl, he resolves to travel to Berlin, her hometown, to beg her forgiveness. Scotty is joined in his odyssey by his hedonistic friend Cooper (Jacob Pitts), and twin sister and brother Jenny (Michelle Trachtenberg of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and Jamie (Travis Wester). Then, the fun begins: Nudity! Mime-bashing! Cameos by Vinnie Jones, Lucy Lawless, Fred Armisen, Joanna Lumley ... and Matt Damon! | |||
