	Till Human Voices Wake Us
	Michael Petroni Guy Pearce, Helena Bonham Carter, Frank Gallagher, Lindley Joyner, Brooke Harman, Peter Curtin 2001		If human voices woke us during the latter part of the supernatural, psycho-drama "Till Human Voices Wake Us," it might have been worth seeing until the bitter end. Instead, two fine actors are trapped in a turgid film that tries to draw a connection between a childhood trauma and what appears to be an otherworldly haunting. Guy Pearce ("Memento") plays troubled Australian psychiatrist Sam. He's on a train heading back to his hometown to settle some family affairs when he meets Ruby, a mysterious woman played by Helena Bonham Carter ("Planet of the Apes"). Ruby disappears from the train, but reappears shortly thereafter during a dark and stormy night (really!) in Sam's neighborhood. She's involved in an accident that gives her amnesia, and Sam, drawn to her, endeavors to help her regain her identity. Trying to learn the truth about her, Sam begins to sense that she's connected to a terrible tragedy from his past. "Till Human Voices Wake Us" is particularly disappointing since it's the work of writer/director Michael Petroni, who wrote "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," a better, snappier film. This one's a snore.
