The sequel isn't as memorable as the first film about Stuart, the lovable, adopted mouse-child of the human, Manhattan-dwelling Little clan. But "Stuart Little 2" is not a disappointment. It's a quality family film with conscientious, unforced messages about tolerance, loyalty, the rewards of kindness and the joys of interspecies (platonic) love. While the wonder of watching a tiny, believable, computer-generated talking rodent interact with real people is diminished the second time around, Stuart's realness is never in doubt. All of the principal performers from "Stuart Little" have returned: Geena Davis and Hugh Laurie as generous-hearted Mr. and Mrs. Little; Jonathan Lipnicki as their homo sapien son George; Nathan Lane as the voice of sarcastic housecat Snowbell; and Michael J. Fox as the voice of the endearing Stuart. The mouse, now enjoying a comfy life with the Littles, longs for a friend his size until he meets a wee bird (voice of Melanie Griffith) in league with a thieving falcon (voice of James Woods). No cheese here. | |||
