	Trouble Every Day
	Claire Denis Vincent Gallo, Beatrice Dalle, Tricia Vessey 2001		Claire Denis, director of thoughtful, elegantly rendered French films such as "Chocolat" (not the mega-sweet Juliette Binoche-Johnny Depp one) and "Beau Travail," has made a film so grisly that it might curdle the toughest stomach. But it's made well, and the actors, including America's Vincent Gallo — the ideal choice to portray a sociopath — and France's Beatrice Dalle, really commit to their roles. Gallo plays Shane, who has flown from the U.S. to Paris, ostensibly to honeymoon with his wife June (Tricia Vessey). But Shane has a agenda that he's hiding from his bride. He's researching a cure for a mental illness that plagues him, a disorder that links sex with violence. A French doctor has insights about the dysfunction, because his wife (Dalle) also suffers from it. Shane believes he may learn a way to overcome the disease, if he can find the doctor. But the doctor's difficulties with his wife may undermine Shane's plan. An icy blues score adds a dark element to a deeply disturbing film.
