It's hard to feel sorry for the husband played by Yvan Attal in the fluffy French romantic comedy, "My Wife Is an Actress." After all, Attal, who wrote and directed the movie, is married both on-screen and in real life to the cuddly Charlotte Gainsbourg, here playing a somewhat fictionalized version of herself. Attal's character is a sports journalist wedded to Gainsbourg, a popular, diligent actress respected by her peers, beloved by her fans and caring towards her mate. The couple is getting along fine until Charlotte leaves Paris to shoot a film in London where her co-star is an aging British Romeo, effortlessly portrayed by Terence Stamp. In no time, Yvan succumbs to bouts of jealous hysteria and feelings of neglect. Soon, he's taking the Chunnel train to check up on his wife, with amusing results. Attal offers a peek at problems and foibles particular to movie stars and pokes fun at the humdrum and petty difficulties that plague every marriage, even that of a celebrity. "My Wife..." is a bauble, but a charming one.
