The youthful, rebellious energy of "Trainspotting" is infused with a touch of the rueful way-we-were-and-no-longer-are vibe of "The Big Chill" in "What to Do in Case of Fire?" A blazing German film with sly comedy, action, suspense, romance and less of a political agenda than you'd think, it catches up with some mostly-retired '80s left-wing radicals who once lived in the same Berlin squat, participated in demonstrations against the state — and even planned a bombing that went awry. They each went their own way, the majority assimilating into mainstream society. Years later, the long-dormant bomb they planted in an abandoned mansion finally goes off, spurring a police investigation that may ruin the ex-radicals' carefully built lives. Reluctantly, the single mother, the upwardly mobile fiancée, the successful ad exec and the public prosecutor team with the last two holdouts from their radical cell to protect themselves from the cop who has longed to bust them since their first civil disobedience. Hot stuff!
