German director Tom Tykwer and actress Franka Potente garnered international buzz and a wave of art-house adulation in 2000 with their collaboration on the kaleidoscopic, experimental action film "Run, Lola, Run." Then they reunited for this initially enticing but eventually listless mix of romance, heist movie and psychological drama. Scruffy, two-bit crook Bodo (Benno Furmann) saves the life of Sissi (Potente), a nurse in a mental hospital. Then he disappears. When she recovers, she's consumed with the idea of seeking him out, but he has other things on what passes for his mind — such as that one last big job every thief in the movies wants to pull. So he blows her off. If that isn't enough to make the nurse want to join her patients, she harbors some dread secrets that contribute to her questionable mental health. He's a loose cannon. She's not the most stable character on the ward. Sparks should fly. Uh-uh. It's a snoozer. Anyone hoping for the zap of "Run, Lola, Run" should look elsewhere.
