Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, who co-starred in the deserved cult hit "Swingers," reunite for writer/director Favreau's new small-budget comedy. In "Swingers," they were bachelors-on-the-make in Hollywood's retro-swing scene. This time out, they're a couple of L.A. lunkheads drafted into bodyguard jobs by a mob boss (wily old Peter Falk) who takes a liking to Favreau's character, Bobby. Although he's a no-future boxer with a crass stripper (Famke Janssen of "X-Men") for a girlfriend, Bobby's a well-meaning guy. Unfortunately, his tag-along best friend, Ricky, is a smirking, destructive idiot. As played by Vaughn, Ricky is also one of the most irritating people imaginable. The two buddies are sent to New York to watch over shady crook Ruiz (rapper Sean "Puffy" Combs) during a drug-money drop, and they take every opportunity to screw up. The good will produced by the Favreau/Vaughn chemistry is canceled out by half-ass humor, the Ricky-as-nuisance factor and the ending's bogus sentiment.
